Rue de plaisance Records
Rue de Plaisance is a Paris-based electronic music label founded in 2011 by DJ and producer Varoslav. The project brings together friends working across music, graphic design and visual arts, with the ambition of creating releases where sound and visual identity evolve together.
The label focuses on vinyl production as a physical and collectible format. Each release is produced as a limited edition of 300 copies, reinforcing the idea of vinyl as both a musical and visual object.
Problem
The identity needed to reflect the label’s dual ambition: promoting contemporary electronic music while maintaining a strong graphic and artistic presence.
The challenge was to create a visual language capable of adapting to different artists and releases while maintaining a recognizable identity across the label’s catalog.

Logotype
The Rue de Plaisance logotype is inspired by traditional Parisian street signage, referencing the visual language of enamel street plates found across the city.
This reference anchors the identity in a specific cultural context while giving the label a distinctive and memorable typographic presence.

Typographie Rue de Plaisance

Typography
The headline typeface was custom-designed specifically for the label, based on the letterforms found in traditional Paris street signs.
By reinterpreting these historical typographic references, the design creates a bridge between Parisian urban heritage and contemporary electronic culture, reinforcing the identity of the label.

Visual Language
Each release is accompanied by a unique illustrated artwork created by Virassamy. The illustrations bring a strong graphic dimension to the project and contribute to the singular visual universe of the label.
This collaboration between illustration and graphic design allows each record to develop its own identity while remaining part of a coherent visual system.
