For the Broka Billy edition, created in collaboration with Brice Delarue for Zirkumflex, we designed a hybrid printed object — a book + CD, 128 pages + audio, in a 15.3 × 21.5 cm format. Each chapter corresponds to a track from Grems’ album, translating sound into a visual narrative through a mix of illustration, photography, typography, and performance. The editorial concept was to merge the visual and the sonic, turning paper into a continuation of the music. The 17 chapters for 17 tracks provided the rhythmic structure for a layout that alternates between intensity and pause. Our work on materiality — image layering, rough textures, bold typography — aimed to make the physical object resonate with the raw energy of broken beat. Through this edition, we explored how graphic design can connect a musical universe to a tactile, printed experience. For us, Broka Billy stands as a reminder that publishing is not just about representation, but about creating an experiential object, at the crossroads of music, design, and print.
